Applying our Multidisciplinary Approach to the Fluids Engineering Lab

Many of MEE’s recent outputs have typically been a general view of how the department's multidisciplinary approach to practical engineering education is used to leverage scale to be effective. When we saw the call for the special Issue of the Journal “Fluids”,  focused on "Teaching and Learning of Fluid Mechanics”,  it seemed like a great opportunity to publish how these ideas can be applied the the context of the of the lab I run in the the Diamond - Fluids Engineering.

Four of the experiments we run in the lab are discussed, showing how activities are carefully designed based on fulfilling specific learning outcomes. One of the aspects I love about this paper is the authors collaborating on the work are the head of department, the academic lead for the lab (myself) and the teaching technician. This is a great example of how we attempt to transcend traditional job roles.
